Interview With Kexik, Developer Of AssistantExtensions

The Jailbreak Bay interviewed Kexik, the developer of AssistantExtensions. During the intverview he talks about why he is working on AssistantExtensions and how he feels about MyAssistant, his competition. Check out some of the questions after the break.

Q: Can you introduce yourself?

A: My name is Mario, I am 23, currently living in the Czech Republic, but plan to move to New Zealand. Currently focusing on iOS tweak development, but I am also working on one AppStore game.

Q: Which Apple’s Devices have you got? Are they jailbroken?

A: iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPad 1 – everything jailbroken. It is needed for development and testing. I can’t imagine Appstore development without jailbreak (getting syslog, copying files, …)

Q: How the idea of create a software, AssistantExtentions, to improve Siri came to you?

A: I watch Apple keynotes regularly so I watched also the one where the iPhone 4S and Siri was introduced. I was amazed by the presentation of Siri so I started to be interested in getting more of it. I was working on “porting” Siri to my old iPhone 4 as others and I finally managed to have Siri working on iPhone 4 before Spire has been released. But I also bought my iPhone 4S to feed siri proxy – from UK since it was not available in the Czech Republic at that time. And from the time I had Siri on my jailbroken iPhone 4, I started examining Siri API, doing packet dumps, class dumps, etc. So I was interested in improving Siri since I first saw it.
